Intern at Agri Commodities Europe, part of the Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF) within the Corporate & Institutional Banking (C&IB) department.
The team is active in financing clients which operate in international trade of agri commodities like grains, oilseeds, cocoa, coffee and sugar. Tell us your story. We are curious! If you’re already good, we’ll make you even better. That’s a promise. So seize this opportunity to develop into the professional you aspire to be.
As an Agri Commodities intern you will assist the team of account managers in their day-to-day activities, work on projects and conduct market research/industry- and financial analysis (on the various commodities markets). Next to analytical skills you will be able to develop soft- and presentation skills. Furthermore you will build up comprehensive knowledge of international agri commodity traders and the market in which they operate.
Sustainability is an integral part of ABN AMRO's long-term strategy, and the bank puts responsible finance at heart of its business. You will be able to work together with the impact banking team during this internship as well.
Your working environment
The team in Amsterdam consists of 13 account managers of 5 nationalities and a dedicated mid-office team which cooperate closely. Agri TCF consists of 4 teams across the world (Amsterdam, New York, Sao Paulo and Singapore). As an enthusiastic and committed professional at ABN AMRO, you are continuously working on your own development. Of course you encourage others to do the same. You use your knowledge, skills and behaviour to put the client at the centre of everything you do. Only in this way we can create sustainable growth and continuity for our clients and our bank.
C&IB operates globally and offers its clients tailor-made financial products and services to match their specific funding requirements. Given the volatile and vulnerable markets in which we operate, people active in this business need to be constantly aware of what is going on and keep up with the client in the ever-changing demand for financial products and services.
You are an enthusiastic and flexible person with a pro-active working attitude. You have analytical skills combined with an eye for detail. You are a quick learner and good in multitasking. Further, you possess the ability to quickly understand complex transactions which fit the client’s needs while maintaining a modest risk profile for the Bank. You are available for a period of approximately 3-6 months, for 40 hours a week. You are serious about pursuing your career in the banking/international trade industry.
- University education with excellent grades (Master’s degree graduates or soon to be graduates)
- Relevant extracurricular activities demonstrating your interest in international trade
- (Proven) affinity with finance and capital markets
- Basic accounting knowledge
